Wesley Henson, PhD

Dr. Henson is a seasoned Agricultural and Biological Engineer with over 17 years of experience in agricultural and water resource simulation, decision tool development, and sustainable land and water management.  He has led science teams to support evaluation of water supply sustainability for several groundwater districts in California and Florida.  Dr. Henson is known for developing innovative, high-impact models including a multi-million-dollar system model for one of the nation’s most productive agricultural regions and contributing to industry-standard software for forecasting supply, demand, and climate impacts.  He was the lead software developer that integrated the capability of simulating Karst aquifers into this software to allow for evaluation of groundwater management that includes spring flow. He has led interdisciplinary teams and stakeholder-driven projects focused on climate vulnerability, water use efficiency, and nutrient management, with work informing both state and national policy.
