Position Title: Senior Project Manager – Water, Wastewater, and Recycled Water Infrastructure

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong process, mechanical, or design background in Potable Water, Wastewater, or Recycled Water Infrastructure to join our expanding water and civil engineering practice in Daly City, California. The successful candidate will manage, plan, and lead engineering design projects for wastewater treatment processes, pumping /lift stations, treatment facilities, and conveyance infrastructure, and manage a portfolio of clients with multiple projects.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Plan, organize, and manage the development of project deliverables to ensure timely delivery, technical quality, and within budget.
  • Prepare letters, technical memoranda, and proposals as necessary as part of project development life cycle for client review.
  • Execute multiple concurrent projects efficiently.
  • Lead staff preparing studies, design analyses, and engineering reports.
  • Conduct alternative analyses and feasibility studies to support business case evaluations for project decisions.
  • Incorporate and communicate industry standards as well as client standards and requirements into project designs.
  • As leader of the project team, coordinate required permits which may require meetings with clients, contractors, utility companies, and permitting governmental agencies.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and budget using appropriate verification and tracking techniques.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Manage relationships with the client and all stakeholders.
  • Conduct risk management activities to minimize project risks.
  • Consistently deliver planned profit margins.
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor and resource for project teams.
  • Provide specialized technical input to studies and design for staff’s specific area of expertise.
  • Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
  • Perform quality control review of design calculations, plans, and specifications, and drawings.
  • Engage in business development and activities to develop new business opportunities.

The successful candidate must have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related discipline (master’s degree preferred).
  • A clear current California Civil Engineering PE license.
  • 6-12 years of water and wastewater infrastructure design experience (12+ years of progressive experience with municipal wastewater treatment, conveyance and pumping engineering, design, and permitting preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and construction administration of small, medium, and large water and wastewater infrastructure projects including pump stations, wastewater collection systems, potable and reclaimed water transmission/distribution systems, and pipeline rehabilitation projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with clients, subconsultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public as may be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives.
  • Demonstrated time management skills, strong work ethic, and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively in teams and independently when necessary.

The expected compensation range for this position is $140,000 – $180,000 annually depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
