Position Title: Senior Project Engineer – Water, Wastewater, and Recycled Water Infrastructure

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Project Engineer with a strong process and mechanical design background in Potable Water, Wastewater, or Recycled Water Infrastructure to join our expanding water and civil engineering practice in Daly City, California.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform engineering work in various engineering fields in water infrastructure such as pipelines, pump stations, and storage tanks.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct engineering work on small to large projects of a moderately complex nature.
  • Prepare engineering feasibility studies, designs, and reports; develop plans and specifications; prepare cost estimates for various water, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables and review and analyze data, throughout the construction phase.
  • Work with internal and external team members to produce successful projects.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of the level of technical effort for projects.
  • Perform quality control review of design calculations, plans, and specifications. Incorporate industry standards as well as client standards and requirements into project designs.
  • As part of the project team, you may facilitate permitting, including coordinating required permits, scoping meetings with clients, contractors, utility companies, and governmental permitting agencies, as well as permit preparation and submission.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Participate in proposal preparation, client interviews, and contract negotiations.
  • Participate in professional associations, including presentation of technical papers or participating as a technical committee member.
  • Engage in business development and activities to develop new business opportunities.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • A clear current California Civil Engineering PE license.
  • 6-12 years of water and wastewater infrastructure design experience (12+ years of progressive experience with municipal water and wastewater treatment, conveyance and pumping engineering, design and permitting preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and construction administration of small, medium, and large water and wastewater infrastructure projects including pump stations, wastewater collection systems, potable and reclaimed water transmission/distribution systems, and pipeline rehabilitation projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with technicians, designers, engineers, owners, and other project managers for the preparation of high-quality work products.
  • Demonstrated time management skills, strong work ethic, and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively in teams and independently when necessary.

The expected compensation range for this position is $110,000 – $150,000 annually depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
