EKI Environment & Water, Inc. (EKI) is an employee-owned, full service, engineering and environmental sciences consulting firm serving private- and public-sector clients throughout the United States. We are currently seeking a motivated and energetic entry-level to mid-level Environmental Compliance Professional who can support site environment, health, and safety compliance for our industrial, commercial, and municipal clients.

Your responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Management of compliance and tracking systems for permitting at industrial and commercial sites (e.g., RCRA, TSCA, NPDES).
  • Documenting compliance with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certifications.
  • Perform EHS compliance audits and implement follow-up corrective actions to assure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Managing compliance and tracking system for hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams at industrial and commercial facilities.
  • Develop, evaluate, implement, and improve written EHS programs (i.e., OSHA) including hazard communication, hearing conservation, lockout / tag-out, respiratory protection, electrical safety, confined space entry, fall protection, burning/welding, powered industrial trucks, safe work permit, contractor safety, material handling, personal protective equipment, blood-borne pathogens, ergonomics, etc.
  • Contribute to the growth of client facing EHS compliance practice by delivering high-quality written communication, stewarding and developing client relationships, and identifying opportunities to offer value-added services to our clients.
  • Prepare well-written documents and effective presentations that communicate complex technical problems in an effective and efficient manner to a broad audience.

The successful candidate should have the following background:

  • BS (MS preferred) in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or similar degree program.
  • Strong technical and mechanical skills, preferably a minimum of two years of experience as an engineer/geologist/technician involved with environment, health, and safety compliance Entry-level is also acceptable.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER training preferred but not required.
  • Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of experience with Six Sigma, Quality Management System standards (i.e. ISO-9001, TS-16949, etc.).
  • Preferred candidates will have 3-5 years of direct, on-the-job experience with environmental compliance programs such as Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) rule, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Emergency Planning & Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA or “Superfund”), and Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations Permits (CAFO). A Master’s degree in a directly related field may replace up to 2 years of on-the-job experience.
  • A strong desire to grow personally as well as professionally.
  • A current valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain medical clearance to work on hazardous waste sites, the ability to lift 35 pounds, and ability to work 10-hour days.

The expected compensation range for this position is $68,000 – $86,000 annually depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
