One Water
As water demand increases and the reliability of existing supplies decreases due to climate change, regulatory pressures, and other stressors, strategic and comprehensive water resources planning is becoming more critical than ever. EKI provides a full spectrum of water resources planning services to help our clients navigate through these complex and evolving challenges.
Our One Water Planning approach looks at all types of water as a single, vital resource. This holistic perspective allows the development of integrated strategies and solutions that address a wide range of technical, engineering, economic, and regulatory considerations. EKI’s One Water services include:
- Long-term planning, including preparation of water supply master plans, Urban Water Management Plans, water conservation plans, and Water Supply Assessments;
- Water supply inventory assessments, including review of surface water transfer options and aquifer storage and recovery alternatives;
- Drought planning, including drought contingency plans, water shortage contingency plans, and drought allocations plans;
- Water transfer and banking technical and strategic planning and support;
- Conjunctive use evaluations to allow for balanced and sustainable use of surface water, groundwater, and reclaimed water;
- Water use efficiency planning, including quantifying the benefits of water conservation and developing conservation policies and programs;
- Grant support services, including identification of funding opportunities, development of grant applications, and grant administration to support project development and implementation; and
- Stakeholder engagement and facilitation to build consensus, incorporate community input, and support transparent and collaborative decision-making throughout the planning process.
EKI also supports our clients in the development of new water supplies, beginning with conceptual planning and evaluation of supply options, including life-cycle costs estimates, supply reliability, and development feasibility, and continuing through implementation.
