Master Planning and Hydraulic Modeling

Utility owners are faced with a myriad of challenges, including new and changing regulations, deteriorating infrastructure, system security, supply and demand changes, and budgetary constraints.

To help our clients cope with these challenges, EKI provides comprehensive master planning and engineering services including developing water, wastewater, and recycled water capital improvement programs (CIPs), performing water demand and supply evaluations, and conducting hydraulic modeling to assess system performance and recommend operational improvements. Our capabilities include demand analysis, storage and supply capacity assessment, construction and calibration of hydraulic models, scenario development, development of a recommended capital improvement program, and preparation of Master Plan Reports.

EKI has in depth understanding of hydraulic model development and construction that is integrated with the water, sewer, or recycled water system GIS and asset management software. EKI has extensive experience with and maintains licenses for the leading GIS-based hydraulic modeling software, including Innovyze InfoWater/InfoWater Pro, Innovyze InfoWorks ICM, and Bentley WaterGEMs. EKI’s engineers are skilled in calibrating and running hydraulic models to evaluate capacity deficiencies, to plan infrastructure improvements, develop operational maintenance strategies, assess the size of facilities to connect a new development, and assist our clients in proactively managing their system. Our expertise using hydraulic models to analyze a water or sewer system’s hydraulic behavior aid us in developing effective master plans and developing and managing CIPs, therefore, helping municipalities prioritize projects and integrate supply systems for optimal use of water.
