Environmental
Services
EKI has a wide range of experience meeting our client’s specific needs at complex, environmentally impacted sites.
We perform remedial investigations and feasibility studies under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) guidance for Superfund sites. To find cost-effective solutions to meet our client’s risk and cost tolerances, we evaluate, design, permit, and implement traditional as well as innovative remedial technologies including in-situ bio, in-situ thermal, excavation in tented environments, and ex-situ soil remediation that allows reuse of soils onsite.
Our staff has established credibility with regulatory agencies and are highly experienced with the performance of hazardous waste projects consistent with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), California Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB), Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP), Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MASSDEP), and other state and local agencies and their respective guidance.
We conduct numerous risk-based closures according to U.S. EPA and DTSC risk assessment guidance. We are currently providing program management services at several National Priorities List (NPL) sites that include both state- and federal-lead oversight. For many industrial site reuse and redevelopment projects, we estimate the risks, costs, and benefits of alternative remedial actions and develop cost-effective remedial solutions, while accommodating business, technological, and regulatory constraints.
Moreover, our senior staff have the knowledge and experience to provide technical support to legal counsel and corporate management. We can serve as fact witnesses that facilitate our clients recouping their expenses pursuant to purchase and sales contracts, lease agreements, or private party cost recovery rights available under CERCLA. We provide expert witness services on projects involving the source and extent of contamination, appropriateness of remedial actions taken, and allocation of costs.
