EKI was proud to sponsor the Sonoma Community Center’s 16th Annual Trashion Fashion Show this past weekend, a unique event that brought together creativity, sustainability, and community. ♻️✨
A highlight of the event was EKI’s own Environmental Data Manager, Robbie Prohaska, who took to the runway in her original design, “The Aluminator.” Created entirely from repurposed materials collected by Robbie and EKI colleagues. This creative piece highlighted her creativity and commitment to sustainability in congruence with EKI’s mission
👗The outfit incorporated an impressive level of detail and craftsmanship including:
- Foil Vest: 22 foil lids, scrubbed, flattened, and stapled together, trimmed with 375 laced aluminum pull tabs
- Tunic: 5 dry cleaner bags stapled together with sleeves bound with laced alumininum pull tabs
- Boots (2): 3 foil lids, 2 foil yogurt tops, and 46 pull tabs
- Diadem: 1 foil lid and 20 vintage crystals
- Lantern: 12 foil yogurt tops, 4 vintage crystals, and approximately 38 pull tabs
- Skirt: 48 Encore Sampler bags ziplocked together with approximately 20 dryer sheets
- Cuffs (2) made from ½ foil lid and 6 laced pull tabs
- plus approximately 200 additional laced pull tabs used as trim
The total amount of materials used to bring “The Aluminator” to life included approximately 600 aluminum pull tabs and nearly 2 pounds of aluminum sheets. All the materials were collected by Robbie, the EKI offices throughout the country, and from various EKI project sites.
EKI was well represented at the event, with attendees and volunteers including Vice President, Ed Conti, CEG, CHg, QISP/ToR; Vice President/Board of Director, Earl James, PG; Civil and Environmental Engineer, Yuqing Gao; Geologist, Alondra Sahagun Cabrera, GIT; and Marketing Manager, Taruna Arora.
