EKI is supporting the development and implementation of subsidence management strategies for our clients in the Tule subbasin.

Subsidence Analysis and Modeling

This work includes evaluating land subsidence using MODFLOW models and conducting critical head analysis to assess subsidence risks. Our team developed modeling scenarios to assess the effectiveness of operational strategies, surface-water deliveries, and groundwater pumping reductions. EKI also integrated InSAR-based deformation data, groundwater level datasets, lithologic information, and model-based subsidence forecasts to support SGMA compliance, stakeholder coordination, and the development of data-driven subsidence mitigation measures for the Districts.

EKI’s subsidence management strategies are supporting the subbasin GSAs adopt a Corrective Subsidence Management Order which will enforce the affected landowners or well owners to adopt an administrative enforcement to prevent further exceedance of subsidence rates and avoid violating the Minimum Thresholds (MTs).
