EKI is providing technical and project management services to the 23 Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs) within the Delta-Mendota Subbasin to navigate the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) probationary process and to develop and implement a unified, coordinated Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP). EKI was selected by the Delta-Mendota Subbasin Coordination Committee following Department of Water Resources’ (DWR’s) “inadequate” determination of the Subbasin’s six GSPs, due to EKI’s proven track record in GSP development and implementation in other basins. Under this project, EKI is focused on:

  • Preparation of a single, coordinated GSP for the Delta-Mendota Subbasin in collaboration with SWRCB and DWR.
  • Conducting predictive modeling, including climate change assessments, to support Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA).
  • Developing and supporting implementation of the Pumping Reduction Plan (PRP), including development of a GSP and PRP Implementation Tracking Dashboard.
  • Managing project administration, inter- and intra-basin coordination, and stakeholder outreach activities.
