We are currently seeking a talented and energetic Civil or Environmental Engineer Project Manager to lead water, wastewater, recycled water, and stormwater infrastructure projects for our San Francisco Bay Area or Greater Sacramento Area offices.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Civil or Environmental Engineer Project Manager, you’ll be expected to manage planning, design, and construction of water, wastewater, recycled water, and stormwater infrastructure projects in the San Francisco Bay Area, Greater Sacramento Area, and throughout California. Under the supervision of a principal engineer, you’ll lead the preparation of feasibility studies, master plans, basis of design studies, and contract documents, and provide bid support and construction management services for water and other infrastructure projects. You’ll be expected to complete projects profitably and deliver excellent work products while mentoring other team members. EKI will provide training and mentoring to encourage your career development.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assembling, managing, and providing technical guidance to multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Managing and implementing pre-design investigations and preparation of contract documents.
  • Preparing and reviewing project technical reports and deliverables.
  • Coordinating with client representatives, regulatory and external stakeholders, and technical subconsultants.
  • Communicating with clients on complicated technical problems in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Managing and administering construction-phase engineering support and construction. management including submittal reviews and requests for information, change order requests and negotiations, and dispute resolutions.
  • Performing and managing design and construction field observation activities.
  • Support preparation of proposals.
  • Understanding client needs and building and maintaining trusted client relationships.
  • Executing projects to meet technical, quality, budgetary, and scheduling requirements.
  • Effectively delegating and managing work.
  • Providing mentorship and leadership to junior engineers.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering. (Master’s degree preferred.)
  • 7-15 years of relevant experience in performing/managing water, wastewater, recycled water, and/or stormwater infrastructure projects.
  • Professional Civil Engineer license in California.
  • Proven experience with the development of technical work products including but not limited to construction documents.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to technical details.
  • Experience in providing technical and project leadership to junior engineers.
  • Computer skills – Strong computer literacy skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project. AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience preferred.
